According to Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will indeed be fighting at UFC 205 on November 12 at Madison Square Garden. Donald Cerrone will meet Kevin Gastelum in the Octagon on the historic New York City card.
Just confirmed with @danawhite, Cowboy Cerrone vs. Kelvin Gastelum agreed for UFC 205 on Nov. 12 at MSG.

“Cowboy”, who is 3-0 at Welterweight, was previously booked to face Robbie Lawler at the event, however, last week, just days after the booking was confirmed Lawler pulled out of the fight citing health concerns. Cerrone who told the media, “A little piece of the fan inside died inside of me”, after finding out the bad news left on a positive note focusing on the nine weeks he still had left to find a replacement fight.
The replacement has been found and Kevin Gastelum, fresh off his Unanimous Decision victory over Johny Hendricks at UFC 200 is the man stepping up to the challenge. Similar to Hendricks (the fight was fought at a catchweight due to Hendricks not being able to make weight) Gastelum has been hampered by weight cutting issues and was ordered by the UFC at one point in time to move up to Middleweight (185lbs) from his current weightclass, Welterweight (170lbs).
Kevin Gastelum is 1-1 since moving back to Welterweight and was originally scheduled to face Jorge Masvidal one week earlier, so it appears Masvidal is now also searching for an opponent.
UFC 205 is still in the most part a mystery with only four bouts announced and heavy speculation that Chris Weidman and Yoel Romero will meet at MSG.
UFC 205 Announced Bouts:
- Donald Cerrone vs. Kevin Gastelum (Welterweight Bout)
- Thiago Alves vs. Al laquinta (Lightweight Bout)
- Gian Villante vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima (Light Heavyweight Bout)
- Tim Kennedy vs. Rashad Evans (Middleweight Bout)
